Oh well, planck time is taken from the planck time constant. It is planck distance (the smallest distance with any meaning in the universe, divided by the speed of light). time is made up of a granular-non continuous increments of time called planck time. its a lot like a refresh rate (HZ) on a computer screen. This is the duration, or width of time we can observe or act in at a time (10^-43 seconds) (and if we were 4th dimensional the width of time we could see would be as long as the time line cause our existence would span that dimension) So if the threshold for a branching time line is 10^-43 seconds, then it is logical to say the width of a time line is 10^-43 seconds. Think about it a bit and let me know if that makes sense.
